Application Guidelines

Undergraduate study

For fieldwork, service learning, undergraduate research internships, and transdisciplinary seminars, ALI welcomes undergraduates from a variety of disciplines: design, business, engineering, history, politics, environmental sciences, and the arts.

Graduate study

The MSArch program is open to students with a five-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree from a NAAB-accredited program or a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) degree from a LAAB-accredited program in the U.S., foreign equivalent, or a graduate degree in architecture or landscape architecture.

ALI graduate studios and seminars are open to students in the final year of their 2- or 3-year Masters of Architecture program.  Graduate-level studios are open to advanced undergraduates (5th year) by permission.

ALI seeks students showing cross-disciplinary curiosity, intellectual rigor, inventiveness, and advanced design inquiry as evidenced in the portfolio, statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, previous academic accomplishments, and work experience.
